While the book goes into a little bit about each individual facial feature and head perspectives, you should always come prepare knowing the anatomy of the head anyway to make your learning easier (since there will be better books that will explain these aspects). I did have a good understanding of anatomy, but it was from a biological perspective, not an artistic perspective (I took a lot of science classes in College). Covering the basics of human anatomy as it applies to figure drawing. While there are a lot of really good books out there, here is a few selection of figure drawing books that have helped me out specifically with building a good artistic foundation. I understood the anatomy of the skeleton Burne Hogarth's book takes the fundamentals of drawing the human figure from basic principles and then expands on those topics to draw figures dynamically, for we are not all stationary stick figures. It was not a place that one went to, if you were gunning to be an abstract expressionist I thoroughly enjoyed this, and I relate to it, as I'm married to an artist who sought training in the fundamentals during the 1960s abstract craze. This figure drawing class will be a combination of both drawing from life and imagination. So, I've been going back to my basic drawing and studies, Since I still suck at drawing the human figure accurately, and in perspective, straight from imagination, here is one of my lazy cheat short-cuts. I think I may be guilty of having skipped on a lot of the fundamentals of anatomy and perspective drawing when I was in my learning stages, and instead found short-cuts and developed bad habits as a way round.
